Dr Karthik Dhandapani

MBBS, DA, FRCA, FCARCSI, FFPMRCA, MSc in pain management

Dr Dhandapani has completed his training in pain medicine in the UK and has been a consultant for over 12 years. Over the course of his twelve years as a consultant in pain medicine, he has honed his diagnostic acumen and clinical decision-making skills through direct engagement with a wide spectrum of complex pain conditions.

A cornerstone of Dr Dhandapani’s practice is empowering patients through education. He believes that informed patients are better equipped to make decisions about their care, adhere to treatment plans, and pursue wellness actively. He takes the time to explain the nature of the condition, the rationale for each intervention, and the expected outcomes, fostering trust and collaboration.

His approach to Pain Management

Dr. Dhandapani believes that body and mind are not separate entities but intricately connected parts of a person’s whole being. He regards pain not only as a physical sensation but also as an experience shaped by psychological, emotional, and even social factors. For this reason, his approach to pain management is fundamentally holistic.

Rather than simply treating symptoms in isolation, Dr Dhandapani seeks to understand the broader context of each patient’s life and health. This allows him to formulate treatment plans that address not only the immediate pain but also its root causes and its wider impact on the patient’s life.

Dr Dhandapani’s practice recognises that in addition to pharmacological treatments, interventions, lasting improvement often requires attention to the physical, mental and emotional facets of chronic pain.
